Delegate fun will now be sending the voter rewards at midnight UTC to harmonise the schedule to match the prize payouts. The first midnight UTC voter reward payout was broadcast successfully a few minutes ago.
In addition, if you’re a larger or benevolent wallet, I’d appreciate your help! Delegate fun has been a 90% reward sharing pool since the very beginning and this has been roughly in line with proposals by other delegates. 5% of the remaining fund contributes to costs and the other 5% pays prizes. In an ideal world this would be perfect, but fiat currency is still king for now and the price of Ark, at the time of this post, is $0.69.
Assuming a full day of forging, 422 Ark is generated. 5% of that — 21.1 Ark — is kept back to pay for all the associated costs. That equates to less than $15 per day. Unfortunately, in the current climate, that is unsustainable in the long term. Not only are there server costs to pay, but also time and effort in maintaining the nodes to ensure the Ark network functions correctly, as well as providing the vital checks and balances necessary to ensure the network remains decentralised and protected against bad actors. This is what we should all do as delegates. Moreover, fun is also a gaming delegate that pays prizes to incentivise casual gamers to learn about and join the Ark Ecosystem. This is hopefully beneficial to the ecosystem and community long-term. Those games need a lot of development time, licences for products and assets must be bought and renewed, and labour costs for actual coding and maintenance must be accounted for.
Regrettably, all of that is not possible on less than $15 per day, and it also does not leave any room to set aside any funds to give back to projects such as the Ark Community Fund or research into other products or features to grow the ecosystem further and secure the network even more with additional relay nodes.
However, I really do not want to penalise delegate fun’s voters by compulsorily reducing their share of the rewards to cover this. As an alternative, I would like to appeal to any benevolent voters with larger wallets who may be willing to reduce their share of the rewards so that the delegate can be more sustainable without affecting the smaller voting wallets who appreciate the 90% reward sharing scheme.
If you are a benevolent voter who would like to reduce your reward share to help to sustain the delegate long term, firstly — thank you! — and secondly, please send a transaction of 0.00000001 Ark from your voting wallet to the delegate address (AFun3ZuMLj5z1UwxtvsUVHWf15ue1BQKtR) with a smartbridge message containing a numerical value of the percentage of your payout that you would be willing to forego and be kept by the delegate.
So, if you would like to give up half of your rewards, send a transaction with a smartbridge of “50” (or “50%”) without quotes. If you’d like to donate your whole amount, send “100” (or “100%”). If you’d like to keep it all, send “0” (or “0%”). You are free to change your percentage at any time and can pick any positive number you like between 0–100 inclusive. Those who don’t send any smartbridge message will continue to receive their full share as normal.
Thanks so much in advance to any benevolent voters who choose to do this. It will make the world of difference to ensure the long term sustainability of delegate fun without affecting the core voters’ share and it will mean we can go forward and make the ecosystem better for everyone.
